Ivanti has recently announced that it will no longer be renewing contracts for unsupported versions of its Cherwell Service Management (CSM) software.
This update follows the company’s End-of-Life (EOL) announcement for Cherwell CSM, where it confirmed that version 2023.3 is the latest supported version, with support ending in June 2025. A latest 2025 version was released earlier this year. Full support for all Cherwell versions ends permanently on December 31, 2026.
While upgrading from unsupported Cherwell versions to a later version might seem like a viable stopgap, Ivanti has clarified that such upgrades are no longer a recommended path. The upgrade process is resource-intensive and offers limited benefit given the short remaining support window.
All versions prior to 2023.1 are considered unsupported and ineligible for renewal.
For customers using versions of Cherwell software older than 2023.1, the implications vary based on their deployment method:
- Cloud Customers: Those using the cloud-based version of Cherwell will be unable to renew their agreements unless they upgrade to a supported version or transition to Ivanti Neurons. Failure to do so will result in their cloud environment being deactivated 30 days after their renewal date.
- On-Premise Customers: Customers with on-premise deployments can continue using their current Cherwell instance. However, they will no longer receive support from Ivanti for these unsupported versions.
Ivanti’s decision to end support renewals underscores the company’s push for customers to migrate to more current and supported platforms that offer advanced IT service management capabilities.
